Direct Vision Diffraction Grating Gemological
Digital Spectroscope
In the past IGI supplied gemologist with some of the latest technologically advanced spectroscopes commercially available in the market. IGI introduced the gemologist with the Discan, DGX-100 and the Challenger. Once again IGI is proud to supply gemologist with its newest product the “MDM” diffraction grating gemological spectroscope..
The powerful compact “MDM” was created to eliminate many of the drawbacks and limitations of spectroscopes now being used in the market place for gem identification.
In keeping with the IGI reputation of supplying to our customers the best materials used in our products we have also used the highest optical qualities designed for the “MDM.”
The high efficiency reflection diffraction grating was designed and created especially for the “MDM.”
The eyepiece has a good flat field of view and great eye relief.
The slit utilize high precision stainless steel spring loaded adjustable blades manufactured by IGI for quality control.
The dial spectrum scanner scans the spectrum from 780 nanometers to 350 nanometers in one nanometer increments and the wavelength setting is viewed on a digital display located on the “MDM” light base. To view the spectrum above 700 nanometers or below 400 nanometers a monochromatic camera and monitor is required and is available for the “MDM” from IGI.
Special notation should be given to the human eye of young people, they can see the visible spectrum from 400 to 700 nanometers, and older people can only see the visible spectrum from 430 to 700 nanometers.
A line reticle indicator is located on the left hand side of the viewing spectrum and is led by ambient light.
